remote controlled Phibros

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

This Phibros is build according to a plan published in www.phibros.de. The aircraft is build from 3mm Depron. The wingspan is approx. 800mm. The weight is about 300gr. Because of the white color of the material it looked really ugly. I applied some paint and the flags to make it looking nicer.

A microfan with a brushless inrunner and a 2 cell 640mAh LiPo battery powers it up. The motor draws about 7Amps. The microfan delivers a high frequency noise where the complete cell of the aircraft works like a speaker.

A small receiver is mounted on the left side of the fan mount. Ailerons and elevator are mixed and driven by two micro servos. The LiPo is mounted in front using Velcro in front of the fan.

The model is easy to fly for a pilot experienced in flying small models.

Schulze Electronic LiPo Card

My well beloved LipoCard battery charger was unable to read the preconfiguration ( number of cells, chemistry and and current to charge with ) attached to my LiPo battery packs. Sending an email to the manufacturer was quickly done. They replied within 8 hours with a really precise description what might be the cause of the problem and how to fix it. Two zero Ohm resistors were blown by accidentally connecting the battery in reverse polarity. Replacing the the “fuses” was done in no time and the charger works again and all at no cost.

I appreciate this kind of support very much. My next charger if I would need one would be one coming from the same manufacturer.
